Beleaguered Castle Solitaire

Aces in the centre. Eight columns charging in. No stock pile.

Beleaguered Castle (and the related Streets and Alleys, Citadel) places the Aces in the centre and deals all remaining cards into 8 tableau columns. Build foundations up by suit; tableau down regardless of suit.

How to play

  1. Place the four Aces in a centre column as foundations.
  2. Deal the remaining 48 cards into 8 columns of 6 face-up.
  3. Build the tableau down regardless of suit, one card at a time.
  4. Build foundations up by suit, Ace to King.
  5. Empty columns can hold any card.

Strategy & tips

  • Empty a column early - without a stock pile, columns are your only flexibility.
  • Don't release a 2 to its foundation if it locks an unreachable 3 elsewhere.
  • Citadel is the unforgiving cousin: cards go to the foundation as they appear, never returning.
