Spider variant

Beetle Solitaire

Two decks. Eight columns. Build sequences and clear them all.

Beetle is a Spider variant with a distinctive deal: 50 cards spread across ten columns face-down with two cards face-up. The rest of the deck stays in the stock. The deep face-down columns make Beetle one of the more memory-intensive Spider games.

How to play Beetle

Goal - Move all the cards to the Foundation

Decks

  • 2 decks (104 cards)

Redeals

  • No

Foundation

  • Automatically filled when a Tableau pile contains a pile ordered down by rank and by suit from King to Ace

Tableau

  • Built down by rank
  • The top card of each pile is available for move
  • Group of cards in the proper sequence can be moved so long as they share the same suit
  • An empty pile can be filled with any card or correctly ranked pile

Stock

  • Press on the Stock to deal one card to each Tableau pile

Strategy & tips

  • Track which face-down ranks you've revealed across the table - Beetle's win path runs through unblocking, not building.
  • Suited 5-card runs are worth holding onto even when the next move is unclear.
  • Empty a column as early as possible - it's your most flexible workspace.
