How to play

Deal the deck into ~18 fans of three cards (Fan / La Belle Lucie / Trefoil layouts vary slightly).
Only the top card of each fan is in play.
Build the tableau down by suit; build foundations up by suit from Ace.
Some variants allow one or two redeals (a reshuffle of remaining cards).

Strategy & tips

Free your aces first - every move that uncovers an ace is a move worth making.
Use redeals sparingly: many variants allow only one or two.
Keep an eye on suited blocks. Breaking them up to chase a single card often loses the game.
