Klondike variant

Klondike (Turn 3) Solitaire

Three cards at a time. Two-thirds of the deck slides past you each pass.

Klondike Turn 3 is the harder cousin of Turn 1. The stock turns three cards at once - only the top card is playable, so two-thirds of the deck slides past you on each pass. Telemetry on Solitaire Royal shows wins around 11%, roughly a third of Turn 1's success rate.

What makes Klondike (Turn 3) different

  • Stock turns three cards at a time - only the top of the three is playable.

Strategy & tips

  • Plan stock cycles in groups of three. Before tapping the stock, count out which third of the deck you're about to expose.
  • Don't send Aces to the foundation if it locks a useful 2 in the stock cycle.
  • Empty columns are even more precious in Turn 3 - every empty column is a buffer that lets you re-plan a move you can't undo.
  • Play aces and twos to the foundation immediately, but think twice before sending higher cards - you may need them in the tableau.
