Australian Patience Solitaire

The original. The one everyone calls just "solitaire".

Australian Patience is a Klondike-family solitaire dealt entirely face-up across seven columns of four cards. No stock - every card is on the table from the start. The build-down rule is alternating colour, and the four Aces are pre-promoted to foundations during the deal.

Strategy & tips

  • All-visible deals reward total board reading. Spend the first minute mapping which cards block which Aces.
  • Without a stock, every column rearrangement is permanent. Plan three moves ahead before committing.
  • Play aces and twos to the foundation immediately, but think twice before sending higher cards - you may need them in the tableau.
